Tammie Roman

STUDIO & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Tammie’s love of dance began at the age of 4 at Lake Mary Dance Academy near Orlando, FL.  Her earliest training was with Karen Capoun, former principal dancer with Lincoln City Ballet.  Throughout her childhood, Tammie explored a variety of dance styles, but ultimately discovered a profound passion and love for ballet.

Tammie began her pre-professional training at La Mesa Dance Academy with Certified Cecchetti  Instructor Cecelia Palladino-Jaramillo (National Dance Educators Award winner, National Dance Masters Association member, and founder/director of Energy in Motion Dance Company).  Tammie accepted an invitation to join Energy in Motion where she performed some of her most memorable roles as a Company Dancer and Soloist.  She choreographed and danced a variety of solo performances, featuring both Classical and Contemporary Ballet during her time with the company.

Tammie began her teaching career with a two-year apprenticeship under Linda Tillotson (Children’s Director, La Mesa Dance Academy) where she specialized in early childhood dance education. Under the mentorship of Ms. Tillotson and Ms. Palladino-Jaramillo, Tammie intensified her professional development, ultimately enhancing her teaching credentials to include instruction of Advanced/Pre-professional Ballet and Pointe.  She remained an instructor and an active Company member until relocating to Destin, Florida, where she then spent 5 years serving as Company Ballet Director for RISE Dance Center.

Tammie has attended numerous summer intensive programs, including New Mexico Ballet, Richmond Ballet, Broadway Dance Center New York City, Steps on Broadway, KM and Friends Baryshnikov Center New York, and Northwest Florida Ballet.  She has also attended masterclasses with legendary industry professionals, including current and former New York City Ballet Principle dancers Megan Fairchild, Kathryn Morgan, and Maria Karwoski.  She has been featured as a guest artist in the last 4 productions of Dance Facets at Northwest Florida State College, most recently performing both solo and partnered variations from Le Corsaire and La Fille Mal Gardeé.  Tammie continues to stay on the cutting edge of the ballet industry through a rigorous schedule of both local classes, and live virtual classes with nationally renowned instructors across the country.  Her teaching philosophy is to encourage, support, and challenge her dancers while providing them with a strong classical ballet foundation.  She believes in balancing technical precision with the freedom to develop creativity through artistic expression and finds great joy in nurturing a passion for dance within her students.
